How to Play Bingo On and Offline

Bingo is an incredibly popular game, in no small part due to the fact that the rules on how to play bingo are generally very straightforward. It is very easy to learn and participate. There is very little strategy involved, but once someone learns how to play bingo there is much more to consider than just enjoying the experience. If you've never tried it online, you should probably start with a beginner's guide.

Online Rules

Online versions have led to more popularity than ever before. As a result, there are many variations available, and each one comes with slightly different rules and regulations. It is usually advisable to check out the rules at a particular site before you participate so that you fully understand the specific regulations on how to play bingo. It is worth considering that most online sites provide an "auto-mark" feature, which means that a user doesn't have to actually take part in any action to participate in the game. It is possible to just sit back and watch, hoping that the right digits come out.

Live Bingo Rules

In live forms, a caller will select balls at random and call out the digits on the balls. A contestant has to mark off the corresponding number if it appears on their ticket. The first person to hit a certain target - depending on the version being played, for example the target may be all four corners marked, or one completed line - calls out. They will be awarded their prize if everything on their ticket checks out. This is slightly different than online play, where balls are chosen by a random number generator (RNG) and shown on the screen.

UK & European Variants

A common form of the game in the UK that differs from USA styles is 90 ball bingo. In this form, the card is in a 3 by 9 grid and will contain 15 numbers (and 12 blank spaces) between 1 and 90. The game consists of 3 rounds: 1 and 2 lines, and Full House. The winner will be the first person to mark off one or two complete lines in the first two rounds, and then when someone marks off every number on his or her card, they win the Full House prize. All in all, learning how to play bingo is easy once you understand all of the different variations.
